The Bourne Supremacy Sequence Analysis

The Bourne Supremacy also followers the same conventions of a films opening sequence such as introducing the main character to the audience. It also includes the production ident which is universal and the setting of the film and this is shown when titles pop up in the bottom left hand corner of the screen telling us where the setting is in "GOA INDIA" this is done to make the audience question whats going to happen and hwy there at this location.

The Bourne Supremacy does also break the stereo type of a opening title such as the way that there is a lack of cast titles, this is maybe because the film targets mostly a fairly young audience and tries to get into the action as quick as possible and keep the audience engaged. also at the beginning there are loads of short takes, throwing back to the previous films and connecting them so the audience get a gist of what's coming up with out giving to much away.

lots of effects are used and this creates disorientation in the audience and tried to make us feel empathy for the main character and we can start to understand what he is going through, this is very different to a normal opening sequence as usually you are slowly taken int the story. the sequence had long takes and hardly any effects so that the audience can ask questions of the story.

In my opinion i find this a good way to start a film as with less editing and long takes it makes the opening sequence flow more and seem more natural to the human eye. it helps to relax you and ease you into a film which is going to spring into action.
