Brick

Brick begins with the score playing string instruments. This massive dong is very loud and takes over the gentle sound of the string instruments. This could be symbolic for the idea that someone has overpowered the seemingly peaceful and gentle girl who is assumed as dead by the audience.

Using a bell sound and string instruments is different combination . this gives the audience the impression that something isn't right. this is proven when you see the dead girl and the bell rings. Schools have reputations of being a safe place; it is as if the school telling the audience that nothing has happened and its a safe place protecting and hiding away the murder of the school girl.

This adds a sense of mystery to the character. This intrigue is assisted by the large number of questions the first scene arises. Though we never see her face, we know that he dead girl under the bridge is the same girl who leaves the note in the second scene. This is because a graphic match of the girl’s bracelet is used to transition the two scenes.

This show shows us and verifies to us that the dead girl we saw down by the sewage is the girl in this shot as we see her bracelet that we see when half of her hand is in the water and her when she's going into her locker, a normal person would have a shocked look on their face, leave the crime scene or call the police. This makes the audience confused as the man stays their and stares at the girls dead body. The audience become confused by the reaction which makes them want to ask questions
This out of focus, close up of the man looking at the dead body of the girl, firstly makes the audience ask questions of what is he looking at? why cant we see his face?,  his whole face is out of focus with a extreme close up because the director wants you to ask questions and create a dangerous feel as you don't know what's going to happen.
